Shayne, are you saying you're car is stuck on Sync version 1.7.1?

I kinda monitor that "stuck on 1.7.1" thread and haven't seen you post there was why I'm asking. If you'd like me to look up your VIN and tell you what modules need updating I can do that. At least you'd know what needs to be done.

Mike
Thank you much appreciated. No I am not saying that I have a failed stuck 1.7.1 just stuck. I received 1.7.1 at the beginning of February and that is the status of my updates to date. This only happened as a bit of an appeasement is what I am thinking as I grumbled a bit during a hardware problem and low and behold it comes 2 days later. I Have a pin now at 1.7.1 thanks to @DevSecOps and would very much like to follow what modules are updated as the updates occur. So yes it would be great if I can take you up on your offer at some later date. Here it is at 1.7.1 with a 01500 vin.

This system is ridiculous. Anyone should be able to manually check for updates and apply anything that has been released to date. Seems like the digital stone ages still...

Well......for most Job 1 cars...they had the opportunity to have alllll those modules updated via two catch-up programs, CSP 21P22, and 21G01.....

Job 2 cars, although they may already had BlueCruise if they were optioned with the necessary hardware, weren't so fortunate if they were made after September. So there's a pant-load of Job 2's in never-never-update-land that so far have not been able to benefit from those programs.

If you have a Job 1 car and never took it in for those programs and don't have your BlueCruise and improved charge curve that Job 2's never got, or the RFA update, or the updates for all 5 door modules, etc.

You should have.
I have a job2 car, manufactured sep 21. I already had blue cruise from the beginning, but never got any further updates. charge curve update, did not get. Yesterday was the first update in a long time, 2.8.2. no recall update yet

The fact that people are having to go to a dealer to apply updates is insane. The whole point of OTA is to get these cars in sync, and to avoid having to go to a dealer to get everything updated. They are so far behind, you now need to go to a dealer to apply CSP to get everything up to date? What a royal PITA.

Post a screen shot??
I haven't read all of this thread. I am a slacker, clearly. ;)

My GT, right now, has OTA updates turned off, but I'm willing to turn them back on, if that is the smart move. The car failed about two weeks ago, and the dealer replaced the contactor with the -B part. So I think, or at least hope, that I now have the beefier contactor. (d\Does anyone actually know for sure if that is true: is the -B a better part?)

The only reason I turned OTA off was that I was afraid that a software "fix" would reduce power, and I don't want that, especially if I already have a beefier contactor. But I really don't know if any software fix does reduce power, or if that is just idle speculation...

So, I guess, the question is this: should I turn OTA back on?

I mostly trust Ford on this, so my bias is to turn it on, but can someone give me some insight here?

Thanks in advance!

I may have missed this car you see what version you currently have. For the OTA recall update.
I just have the car and the IOS widget no other way to check

The recall state
NOTE IF YOUR VEHICLE HAS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 22B08 STILL OPEN, YOU NEED TO TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO YOUR DEALER FOR THE SAFETY RECALL 22S41 SOFTWARE UPDATE.

How can you tell if you have software 22b08
22B08 is not a "software" update. It's a procedure.

Ford are willing to pay a tech at your dealership to perform the steps in the 22B08 program to find out whether or not one or more of the GWM, TCU, or APIM modules are "stuck" and will not update, and then to "unstick" them using procedures in TSB 22-2150 if they are.

That makes some sense, but boy, "hey NHTSA, in spite of this being classed as a safety recall, and in spite of us being the biggest American car brand with the largest number of dealerships, we/they can't handle a recall for 49k cars" is a really bad look, to put it mildly.

Then again, we kinda already knew that was the case when they made a software "fix" for a hardware problem.
Just happened to see your post, my thoughts exactly a software fix for a hardware problem! Obviously if tesla can run twice as much power for extended periods there has to be better hardware available to let us get the power we paid for.

How do we tell of car received updates. I’ve been gone for a while car has been connected to my wifi with auto updates on. Would I know if it got updated?

When updates occur, you will see notices about them in vehicle and in FordPass. And you may notice them on the vehicle dashboard at ford.com, too.

In rare cases (eg when BlueCruise activated for me), you'll also get an email.

B is an updated part but how much beefier I have no idea. The recall software does not limit power unless it detects a problem with the HVBJB contactors. A couple owners actually posted that they now have a reduction in grey bars but no idea if that is accurate or just their perception.

I have a Job 2 GT built in Aug 21 and had the EXACT same thing happen. Suddenly I got 2.8.2, which I was surprised I didn't have. But no recall update. Also, since 2.8.2 my scheduled update time doesn't stick.

I had mine for awhile and was sitting in the parking lot waiting for them to bring out groceries that I load. Car was powered on tunes going. Winter and shutting down may not be a good idea was my take away at that stage. When it powered off I was real quick slapping it back on since I had had it for a while (no clean boot?). It booted back on with a failed update. I have received 2.6 that reverted back to 1.7.1 since? Told my service guys that it failed a long time ago two days later I get updated (feb) OTA.

Last time the vehicle was in was 04/18/22 (HVJB). Think they saw the bulletin from 13 April 2022; 5 days before? Remembered I noted it to them a while back and checked it last time it was in? ;) Think I need to note it again if I have received updates since? Have full screen CP and finger painting waiting for door buttons. Looked at the BC procedure the modules involved do not tick too much off the list. Think those will be soon later? Got to be the goal right?

Looked at fdrs looks idiot proof but pricey for what it does and what OTA could do. Should have single vehicle subscription pricing or something. Adapter costs enough without the subscription. Thinking can I do it in 2 days? Most likely $150 to start and really a no go based at that cost. Then the computer binding, 30 day reactivation it has tight security guidelines and appears to be a bit of a pita for what it is worth now we have OTA.

Thanks for the reply. I wish I knew more about the new part...
You lost me with the reference to "grey bars". But the software update seems like the prudent move, I guess.
