I had a select used to drive it in Unbridled 1 pedal all the time. I traded it and got a GT (non-performance) and I almost think I like Engage 1 pedal better now. Just wondering what everyone uses.

I preferred Unbridled but the ride was harsher. We have enough bumps in my area to make it intolerable. I do switch to Unbridled on the freeway, when I remember.

On your Premium, the ride harshness is the same in all drive modes.

The difference may be in how well you're modulating your foot on the pedals.

What does the drive mode change mechanically?

To my knowledge, it's only steering and pedal stiffness and pedal ramp mapping.

There's no electrical connection to shocks or struts, right?

That’s right. There is nothing in the drive modoes that affects the suspension or dampers on the Premium. Any effect is either due to how those modes encourage you to drive, or placebo.

Ford really ought to be more clear about what the drive modes do. Being vague isn’t doing them any favors.

I use the engage because the unbridled doesn’t show the brake coach. My wife uses unbridled all the time.

I use Engaged as it feels the closest to driving my Expedition. From my perspective it make diving a bit more safe as I do not have to account for the difference. I also do not like the harshness of the regen in unbridled mode. Have not tried 1PD so can’t comment on that. I may give it a try someday. I did test out Whisper and it was silky smooth. If I only drove in urban/city I might go with that mode..

definitely true. There’s is absolutely no component on any MME, other than the GTPE with magneride, that will change your suspension settings based on drive modes. Now, if you’re trying to argue the “harshness” is different in the GT vs Premium; that may be true. As the GT “should” have a “firmer/sportier” suspension whether it does or not. ??‍♂

Why? I mean, horses for courses, that's like having a quarterhorse ride like a Clydesdale.

GT Unbridled 1PD at all times. The steering feel on Engage is a bit spastic for me. I don't care to acknowledge whatever that other option is.

As several here have stated, when switching drive modes, the suspension is changed only on GTPE models with magneride dampers. The suspension is not changed in any other Mach-E model when selecting different drive modes.

From the Ford Mach-E repair manual:

● Engage : delivers a balanced combination of comfort, control and handling. Stability control, steering and throttle response thresholds remain normal. Engage mode is for everyday driving.
● Unbridled : increases throttle response, steering becomes more precise and stability control thresholds are increased. Suspensions with active dampers (GTPE) become stiffer reducing body motion. Unbridled mode is for sporty driving with improved performance handling and response.
● Whisper : decreases throttle response, steering feel is relaxed and stability control thresholds are decreased. Suspensions with active dampers (GTPE) become softer for a more gentle ride. Whisper mode is for relaxed driving and adverse weather conditions.

The confidently incorrect on drive modes having an impact on ride in a Premium is fun.

I have just been using Engage 1-Pd, but may have to try Unbridled 1-Pd if the 1 pedal is more significant. I am pretty good about letting off at a decent time, but in situations where I have to react to something changing that messes with that, having a stronger one pedal would be nice.

I agree though, a lot of other vehicles allow for customizable drive modes and Ford is really overdue on that front. I would take Engage with Unbridled one pedal.

All the comments here further highlights the need for a custom drive mode with all the adjustable details spelled out. Also, still don't know how you all can work with 1pd drive, I didn't even last 5 minutes :p
It takes some time to get used to 1pd, modulating your pressure on the accelerator (I also refer to as the velocity selector). Having driven our tesla MY for 15 mo now I really like 1pd especially in the curves and curvy downhills as you can scrub speed w/o hitting the brakes.
