Oh and cars are not an investment. If you believe they are, I've got a frunk button to sell you.
not an investment, but… if you want own a comfortable, spacious, good looking car, loaded with tech, then Mach E was one hell of a great buy (at least before the tax credit and pricing changes).

Oh and the general industry consensus is that OEMs would very much like their batteries back. Plenty of valuable stuff that can be recycled if not used as a 2nd life product (BEVs tend to have higher demands than other battery related applications).

There's a good chance Ford might make attractive offers to get some of us into Gen 2 vehicles.

My Options "lease" will be up in December of 2025. Can't wait to give it back.

I'm keeping my MME until my i4 xDrive40 shows up (just went into production).

For me I plan on keeping my 2023 MME until about 2030 or something close to that. My big look for my next car will be when there is a notable jump in battery technology that enables better range then currently.
Maybe by then Toyota will have those "always 5 years out" Solid State Batteries ready to go. ?

My criteria for keeping the MME has nothing to do with accumulated mileage, nor whether a better EV comes out (there will always be better somethings in every case)
Yeah, but it's kind of remarkable that I'm nearly to three years of ownership, and another model has still not emerged as truly superior (at least insofar of checking all my particular boxes of size, comfort, exterior appearance, interior comfort, range, and price).

2 years and 24K miles so far. (21 job 1) No plans to change it out at the minute.

However, software changes everything... so a lot depends on what they do with software support over the next year or two and what bugs are ignored or newly created at that time. My expectation is that they will continue to do small refinements through at least 24... as the modules are still in new production cars. We will see... When I sense that the car has finally become a time capsule I'll take a harder look at what alternatives exist and whether I can live with it "as is" long term at that time.
Yeah, this is a very good point. I sure hope you're right about continuing to support SYNC through the end of 24. There are still some niggling little bugs and deficiencies that need to be worked out. If the software feels clunky and antiquated, that could drive me to upgrade earlier, but I really don't want to.

I love my Beast but it was never intended to be my "forever" car. But I'm close enough to retirement that my next car may well be my last one.

That vehicle will be an EV. I have reservations in on both a Cybertruck and a Silverado EV, but at this point I have a hard time seeing either one delivering any sooner than 2026 or so. I could see myself going for an updated Mach-E (i.e. better range & a heat pump) as well.

I bought the extended warranty and promised my wife I wouldn't sell it until it expired, 45k down - 80K to go. I have a problem with buying a new car every year or two but for what I want to spend there aren't any cars out right now that make me want to sell it anyway. Only way I would sell early at this point is if the small problems it has turn into big problems ("drive mode unavailable" is the new thing that they can't fix and has me worried). Also if Ford doesn't have some of these small issues taken care of before I'm ready to sell, it will be some other manufacturer that will get my money when the time comes.

I just got a 23 to replace the 21 that I traded in on my Lightning. I really like the car, so I suspect that I will keep it until I see the 25-26 facelift and decide then if I want to update.....

I still enjoy my Mach! It's been good to me from the get. The paint job is outstanding, and it's still a head turner. I'm curious to see how the whole Tesla plug thingy works out...once we get it. That will definitely expand driving trips, well, at least with better plugs. I've not checked the value and won't worry about that, I'm still a fan.

Agreed! What would be a smart move by Ford would be:
1. Come up with a “plus” version of the MachE, like GT motors In a premium, with a standard tow hitch, front tie hook and low-scale tow rating;
2. Everything in #1 but lifted with a couple of additional inches of ground clearance and a hardened battery cover for a true off-road AWD capability
3. A Lincoln version of the MachE with a luxury interior and tech package to compete with the BMW and Mercedes Benz class vehicles.

This will never happen, it would be too smart to do this.
